Helpful Storage Hints
- Store your most valuable items in the back of yourunit, out of
sight.(TV, stereo, etc.) Put refrigerator or boxes or large items
in front ofthe unit to block passage. - Do not specify contents on the outside of your box. Put a
number on your box and YOU keep a list of what is in each box. - Do not put heavy boxes or other items on top of sofa cushions
or upholstered furniture. Constant weight in one spot can
permanently damage your upholstery. - Do not store mattresses, boxes, books, linens, etc. directly on
cement floor or tight against a concrete wall. Use a pallet, a piece
of plywood or a tarp to block dampness and to protect against mildew. - Do not store food or candy, even in sealed containers. Food attracts ants, mice and rats, that can eat right through cardboard or plastic containers. A few mothballs in upholstered furniture will repulse rodents.
- If you have woolens, put moth flakes or mothballs in the boxes to protect against moths. If woolen items are CLEAN they are a lot safer from moths.
- Cover your best furniture with a sheet. This protection can be worth a lot to you.
- In this part of the country we are always concerned with rodents, and, while we maintain constant rodent control on the premises, we cannot enter your unit. You, too, should take some precautions.
- Before storing upholstered furniture, be sure you have vacuumed it thoroughly. Rodents will seek out the smallest remnants of food, and, in the process, may destroy your furniture. Ask our managers how best to protect your goods.
- Use strong boxes if you are going to store for a long time. With age and pressure from the weight of one box on top of another, cardboard breaks down and crumbles - the stack of boxes can tilt and fall. WE HAVE A VARIETY OF BOXES AT LOW PRICES - ASK OUR MANAGERS.
YOUR GOODS ARE WORTH MORE THAN A $.95 LOCK!
When choosing a lock to protect your property, don't settle for inferior quality to save a few pennies. Ask us about our reasonably priced, high quality locks.
